With the arrival of summer and temperatures reaching scorching heights, Las Vegas casino pools and day clubs are thriving. The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) is taking this opportunity to remind licensees of their obligations to maintain compliance with the state’s gaming regulations concerning unlawful activities.
The NGCB, together with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), issued a statement reminding that operators of venues such as day clubs, ultra-lounges, and nightclubs must ensure their spaces are devoid of drugs, prostitution, and violence.
Licensees are accountable for any operations on their premises, regardless of partnerships with third parties. Compliance with federal, state, local laws, and state gaming regulations is mandatory, and any lapses in this duty could result in serious consequences,” the letter stated from NGCB officials.
Other potential issues highlighted include:
- Sexual assault
- Theft
- Underage patrons
- Criminal activity related to entertainers and their associates
- Proper security screening practices
NGCB Commends Licensees
While emphasising the importance of adherence to regulations, the NGCB also acknowledged the positive initiatives undertaken by licensees in recent years.
We appreciate the proactive measures taken across the industry to minimize incidents of this nature. Although we recognize the quality of entertainment venues developed, negative incidents reflect poorly on the venue, the licensee, the gaming industry, and the state,” the letter continued.
Law enforcement agencies are actively addressing illegal behaviours; however, ongoing problems at these venues could lead to further inquiries and possible disciplinary actions by the Board.
While cannabis is legal for both recreational and medicinal use in Nevada, its consumption is strictly regulated and is not allowed in public or casino venues. Notably, enforcement of these regulations varies, as many visitors may not have been penalized for being found in violation during their stay.
